We cordially invite you to meet with us in our beautiful and convenient offices behind Fargo’s Steakhouse in Payson. Just call for the time that fits your schedule best. (928) 474.1233. As a Medicare beneficiary, you have choices on how you receive your Medicare benefits. Fundamentally, you can choose one of three directions:
ONE:
Do nothing and just have Medicare Parts A & B. Be aware, however, that supplemental expenses would be your responsibility, including 20% of Medicare Part B (doctor expenses), $1068 per hospital admission (Part A), $133.50 per day for skilled nursing home recovery care (after 20 days), and other gaps. Also note that Medicare considers all ambulances a Part B expense. The AirVac, for example, could top $15,000 per flight and your responsibility would be 20% of that cost. You can still elect to add a Part D Rx prescription plan if you choose to.
TWO:
Stay with original Medicare Parts A & B and insure the supplemental expenses the traditional way with a Medicare Supplement (also known as a Medigap policy.) You can choose from plans A through L; however Medicare Supplement Plan F is the most popular. Most people will choose to also add a Part D Rx Drug Plan.
We can help you compare Medigap policies through top companies, including:
a. Mutual of Omaha website. Mutual of Omaha Brochure. Rate Chart.
b. AARP Medicare Supplement Insurance Plans insured by United Healthcare Insurance Company (Yes, we’re Northern Arizona appointed agents for these plans and can help you compare.)
c. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona Medicare Supplements Brochure and Rates.
d. American Republic Insurance Company
THREE:
Choose to receive your Medicare benefits through a private company contracted under Medicare Part C, also known as Medicare Advantage Plans. Understand this means co-pays for almost every medical procedure you have done, not just office visits. It also means 20% for durable medical equipment, oxygen at home for example. Out of pocket maximums vary from company to company, but usually cap out at between $3500 and $5000 per year. The Part D Rx drug plan is usually built in to the Medicare Part C plan you select. If you choose Medicare Part C, understand that after one year you may not be able to change to a traditional Medicare supplement plan, since after one year Medigap companies can ask health questions and choose to decline.

The most important consideration is not monthly premium cost or co-pay amounts for various tiers of drugs (generic, brand name, et). The most essential element in finding the best plan for you is the formulary. A plan with a more expensive premium may actually cost you much less, depending on the prescriptions you take.
